• During our project we have some problems. At first, the topic is quite abstract; it is hard for us to research.
• Secondly, when we interview and survey it is not easy for get the real result because people afraid to say the truth about their experience swearing. This is sensitive topic.
• Finally, we have some problems to control the budget for the project and think which media product is effectively and do not waste money for mistake. That is why we think and discuss careful when produce media product start.
• However, we enjoy this project so much, and hope it will be good.
And we try to find a reasonalbe script. It is simple and also meaningful.Finally we choose one:
The screen fades to black and the text “One nice day” comes up, and we see a grandmother to sit down on some bench in a garden and she is enjoying beautiful day, and she starts to read her newspaper. After a few minutes, she hears a very noisy voice and some rude words close to her. She realises that is a young boy talking on his mobile phone. The boy sits down next to her, and keeps talking using those rude words. Grandmother already feels annoyed, but she is still calm. The screen fades to black and text “10 minutes later” comes up. After that we see the same situation. The grandmother starts it to move closer to the boy and stare at him, again screen fades to black and text “20 minutes later” comes up. After that we see the grandmother already very close to this boy and still staring at him, and screen fades to black and text “30 minutes later” comes up, the boy realises that the grandmother is sitting very close to him and her face changes into an angry expression, so this boy asks her questions using rude words. When he finishes the grandmother says “a very bad kiddo”, and she takes his mobile and stands up. After that she starts to dance with this song in the background for 1 minute. When she finishes her dance she throws away boy’s mobile and just walks away and this boy is very shocked of what this grandmother has done. While the grandmother walks away, a big voice over says “We understand that you have already got use to using these words, but we just want to ask you to respect others”. The text “Rude words are offensive” comes up and in the bottom of the screen the text “Stop Swearing” text will come up with blurry background of the grandmother, and the screen fades in black with the address of our website.
However, I’m still thinking am I suppose to dub the voice when the song is being played, I just change the words “Love me or hate me, it's still an obsession”, “Love me or hate me, that is the question”, “If you love me then thank you! If you hate me then f**k you!”. The audience will understand why this grandmother is dancing like crazy in front of the boy, but I still need to ask members of my group to think about this.
We start make a new schedule and produce the short film. Producing this short film have 4 steps:
* Development. The script is written and drafted into a workable blueprint for a film: All staff.
* Pre-production. Preparations are made for the shoot, in which cast and crew are hired, locations are selected, and sets are built : Kathy and Fanli.
* Production. The raw elements for the finished film are recorded: All staff.
* Post-production. The film is edited; production sound (dialogue) is concurrently (but separately) edited, music tracks (and songs) are composed, performed and recorded; sound effects are designed and recorded; and any other computer-graphic 'visual' effects are digitally added, all sound elements are mixed into "stems" then the stems are mixed then married to picture and the film is fully completed ("locked"): Karina and Ripina.
* Sales and distribution. The film is screened for potential buyers (distributors), is picked up by a distributor and reaches its theater and/or home media audience: Ripina
In this process I contribute all steps but mainly in Production and Sales and distribution. I will be director of this film and after the film is finished I will plan for media and promotion.
On week 7 Toula shows us a interesting film : "Green Porno" of Isabella Rossellini and ask us about how to bring it to the market? These ideas in class help me to think about our film and makerting for this.

Team work and first Idea
There are 4 members in our group. We start to understand and work together.Firstly we start a company named:" Passio Communication" handles the project " Stop Swearing Campaign". We start researh about this topic and think the concept of media product.
"Swearing can easily become a habit and is generally a bad habit. It is reinforced by the company we keep, the people we are trying to identify with, parental examples and workplace behavior.

Parents must be extra careful to curb their swearing tendencies because children follow what they hear parents say, and will also begin swearing. If you do not want people to get the wrong impression of you and you are tired of swearing instead of speaking clearly, then this is a short guide to helping you to think about why you swear and how you might be able to curb the habit."
We think about the habit of young people that disturb others in society. And one script is created.
So it will be come up with 3 different short stories, first scene it will be an old lady sits down on the desk in the nice park. At this time, a group of young people come and they make noise and swear. This old lady feels be disturbed, so she becomes angry. And then, when we finish this scene, we take a extreme focus shoot on her face, she says:” stop swearing!”
The black screen turns up, our white poster with slogan of campaign in 5 seconds.
The second scene will be in class. The teacher gives the lesson, and everyone is very quiet, but suddenly, some students make some noise. And they swear. This is make teacher and other students surprise and feel angry. Close up the teacher and the classmate say:” stop swearing”.

The last scene happens in a family dinner time. Parents and two children sit around table. Mum prepares some delicious dishes. The environment is so good and warm. But suddenly children argue together and start swears. Focus on parents face, they say:”stop swearing!”

Lastly, it will be shows close up picture of man looking through somewhere else. At the same time it will be come up the voice of man says some fact about Swearing, and after that on the right side it will be come up the words of “ Rude Words are Offended “ and in the bottom it will be “ Stop Swearing “

What i've learnt
I told my members about my idea, and all of them said it’s alright, and Ripina gave vety good comment she said “I think the most important is how to make the script is fun and meaningful. It doesn’t base on scripts so much” and yes I agreed with her. So yeah we will waiting of Toula response, and if we have can we will start shooting in 3 or 4 of April.
Also I read the book of “ Filmmaking for Teens “, at the beginning of the book its said that there is a lot of rule to make a movie but rules are meant to be broken, because of practicalities or unforseen obstacle, so you need to handle of your own movie, which is mean more power to you. Through this I acknowledged that making movie not going to be easy, and even there are suggestion to make a movie, it all depends on us, we can decide which one going to be good or not for our movie.
Other important things are 6 keys to getting your film finished,
1. Make a five minute film
2. Have a completed script before shooting
3. Be a slash ( writer/ director/ producer/ editor)
4. Go digital
5. Use the three day shooting schedule
6. Edit on a deadline
For me, I don’t really thinking about the second till the sixth keys now, but I really underline the first thing, which is make a five minute film, alright but why five, also this is like what Toula wants for our campaign. Five minutes? Keep thinking about that, and through this book its explain that in five minutes you can tell simple story such as, going to your locker for your books, making bowl of ramen, and etc. In five minutes you can show people something unique, you can communicate a lot what you think and who you are, and you can get it finished.
The message is long story is not that necessary, it depends on the way you give the message to your audience, simpler, attractive and short that is the keys.
Also, in the class Toula showed one of the short movie called “ Green Porno” by Isabella Rossellini. This short movie showed simple way to attract audience by the Title and the story about. Isabella was great, she knows what most of the people interesting, “ Sex “, but it is not between human, but its for insects such as , spider, bees, snails, etc. This movie is very short, simple, but unique. I really like and it is good example to make an attractive short movie.

The inspiration
This is seems to be awkward to me, I finished class in Thursday evening and was sitting on the train and just listen to my Ipod, anyway just for an information, I already get bored of all my songs. However, i just played and it just comes up with “Lady Sovereign feat Missy Elliot – Love me or Hate me”. This song is using rude words in her lyrics like the Refr:
Love me or hate me, it's still an obsession.
Love me or hate me, that is the question.
If you love me then thank you!
If you hate me then f**k you!
Wow I realised this song against my campaign, and through this song I got very simple idea for our movie.
This is the story, The screen will be Black and come up with words: One day as a perfect day, and it shows some grandmother sit down in some desk in the garden and she is enjoying the beautiful day, and she is start it to read her newspaper. Following couple of minutes, she heard very noisy voice with some rude words talking close to her. She realised that is young boy talking in his mobile phone. This boy sits down next to her, and keeps talking with those rude words. Grandmother already feel annoyed, but she can still calm down. Good book
I asked Toula to recommended books for our blogs and understanding about making movie, she told me to borrowed “Voice and Vision a creative approach to narrative film and DV production by Mick Hurbis-Cherrier ; illustrations by Gustavo Mercado and “Producing “by Charlotte Worthington. I went to library and try to find that two books, but unfortunately there result are no books, so I’m still tried to find good books, and it come up with 2 books. ,making short films by Clifford Thurlow and Film making for teens pulling of your shorts by Troy Lainer and Clay Nichols. I skimmed these two books and in the first book I found about good information such as, brief history of short films and I found some link about Parisian physiologist Etienne Jules Marey of his movie in 1888 called “ Traffic Crossing Leeds Bridge “ which is available on Google HYPERLINK "http://www.video.google/videoplay"

Individual role and continuity technic
Feel very fast, it is already half way of semester, wow, it means needed to be more focus in all assignments. Felt anxious, exhausted and bit depress. Toula explained us about our project documentation, which is due in week 10. As she said, the research material it will be individual work, even the project documentation is group works, but for research material and treatment all of group members need to make their own. This is very good, I think Toula wanted that everyone in the group to being active and improve their knowledge about their research material and writing. I really like her idea for this, even it was bit confusing for the first time, and now it is become clearer.
Also, Ellen asked Toula, do we really need to use story board, and Toula asked all the students in the class, what the thought of this. David gave us good explanation, story board will be useful if it’s represent narrative story also to visual action from the movie. Through this explanation our group understood, that if we need to use storyboard or not.
Finished the discussion for Project documentation, Toula gave us an example of treatment called “Gulpill”, Directed by Darlene Johnson
What is treatment and is it different with script?
Yes it is different, in the script it is include the actress or actor words of what they are said in the movie, but in the treatment is not. Treatment is use for being able to communicate with audience and how to find the key idea. This is explanation is very useful for our project documentation and being able to more understand of the differences.
In the class we were studying about Production phase and divided into 3 important things:
1. Producer (being them need to book the equipment, cast crew, catering, also they need to make shooting schedule, call sheet and budget0 Producer is a key for every production.
2. Camera operator : Responsible of technical proficiency, PV equipment+ check everything operational ( Battery), visual style/ Framing , storyboard/image file, sound records/ boom swinger, good audio levels and measurement.
3. Director: Responsible for actors/ rehearsal, interviews/ questions.
4. Editor: Responsible for log rushes, which means deciding one is the best take from the director.
I understood why this was important for us, it seems that all of us still confused of individual role for our production, through this explanation, we can start divide members role:

Karina: Camera women/ editor
Another useful lesson is about Continuity, so what is continuity?
It is about logical flow of ideas, and consistence action, performance, wardrobe, lighting, sound and framing. Toula gave us reading about organizing cinematic Time and Space from “Voice and Vision” book. In this reading it said, how continuity system has been devised in order to present a scene without any confusion about the spatial and temporal relationships of people, objects and actions. Toula not just gave us the reading about continuity, but she also showed us 2 different movies, First movie is “Silent (at land) “directed by: Maya Deren in 1944. This movie got element of reality, even is not that obvious. It is showed of the continuity performance when she was crawling in the bush but same in the table, also when the men was change but her eye direction still in consistent way. Second movie is about the rule of Dogma movie : “The Five Obstruction”. Honestly i don’t really like this movie, not because of the story, but because of the continuity of camera in faster and slow direction, this is just made my eyes pain, but it was interesting movie. Because they follow the rule of dogma, so they didn’t editing their movie and it is still looks good
Looking through from the reading and movie, it is just make me clearer of the continuity in the movie production, and can imagine how difficult to give continuity of performance.

Even for me this wasn’t without any preparation, but this is a good opportunity from our teacher to know what other students are thinks about our idea, also they will give us some comment and suggestion. When we finished our presentation, Toula gave us comment that our idea may be needed to be clearer, so we need to still work on it, and I really agreed with that. On the other hand Alex gave us very good idea, he said “ How about you guys made a very simple one, like there is a big voice of mail said no swear in the public places, no swear in the church, and it will end up with Stop Swearing!!!” Yeah thank you Alex, that is good idea.

I like this example, through this; I understood that campaign needed to be show short, attractive and clear message to their audience. I even questioning myself, what is the style to make public awareness campaign? I couldn’t answer it. So because of this I will try to make simple for my movie, and to be honest I don’t really feel I like the idea of our movie now on, I want to change it.
Finish the break time, we watched movie “ .....................”, it was bit confusing for me, because it’s like they mixed up the stories like present day and back again to past time, also I felt bit dizzy when he crashed the dog and his shirts got a lot of blood, ewww. The good thing about this movie is, I feel I was in the same situation with him and get involved with his world, and I could hear my heart beat same like what he did in the high way, interesting movie.

So it will be come up with 3 different short stories, first scene it will be an old lady sits down on the desk in the nice park. At this time, a group of young people come and they make noise and swear. This old lady feels be disturbed so she becomes angry. And then, when we finish this scene, we take an extreme focus shoot on her face, she says:”stop swearing!”

The second scene will be in class. The teacher gives the lesson, and everyone is very quiet, but suddenly, some students make some noise. And they swear. This is make teacher and other students surprise and feel angry. Close up the teacher and the classmate say:”stop swearing”.

The last scene happens in a family dinner time. Parents and two children sit around table. Mum prepares some delicious dishes. The environment is so good and warm. But suddenly children argue together and start swears. The whole environment change weird. Focus on parents face, they say:”stop swearing!”.

Lastly, it will be shows close up picture of man looking through somewhere else. At the same time it will be come up the voice of man says some fact about Swearing, and after that on the right side it will be come up the words of “ Rude Words are Offended “ and in the bottom it will be “ Stop Swearing “

Even for me this wasn’t without any preparation, but this is a good opportunity from our teacher to know what other students are thinks about our idea, also they will give us some comment and suggestion. When we finished our presentation, Toula gave us comment that our idea may be needed to be clearer, so we need to still work on it, and I really agreed with that. On the other hand Alex gave us very good idea, he said “ How about you guys made a very simple one, like there is a big voice of mail said no swear in the public places, no swear in the church, and it will end up with Stop Swearing!!!” Yeah thank you Alex, that is good idea.

I like this example, through this; I understood that campaign needed to be show short, attractive and clear message to their audience. I even questioning myself, what is the style to make public awareness campaign? I couldn’t answer it. So because of this I will try to make simple for my movie, and to be honest I don’t really feel I like the idea of our movie now on, I want to change it.
Finish the break time, we watched movie “ .....................”, it was bit confusing for me, because it’s like they mixed up the stories like present day and back again to past time, also I felt bit dizzy when he crashed the dog and his shirts got a lot of blood, ewww. The good thing about this movie is, I feel I was in the same situation with him and get involved with his world, and I could hear my heart beat same like what he did in the high way, interesting movie.
